MÁRCIO COSTA
PORTUGUESE PROFESSIONAL FPV DRONE PILOT
BIO
My name is Márcio Costa; I'm 35 years old. I grew up in central Portugal, and I've been entirely crazy about extreme sports since I was a kid. I practiced street skating for nine years, did bodyboarding from the age of 11 to 21, and at 21, I decided to switch to surfing, which was what I had always wanted but never had the opportunity to do before due to financial reasons. I bought my first surfboard, and I’ve never let go of that passion since then.
I also practiced wakeboarding, snowboarding, and kickboxing more sporadically, and I still do motocross and surf skating.
I worked for ten years in shopping malls and sports and surf shops, but I always knew that wasn’t the path I wanted to stay on. I started by creating a clothing brand based on extreme sports, but it’s on hold for now. Meanwhile, I started tattooing and still take on some projects, primarily for personal contacts or friends. I also produce music as a hobby and even have a studio. I learned how to shape surfboards, which has always been one of my dreams, especially the customization aspect, something that brings me a lot of joy. I also studied the behavior of the boards in the water and different shapes.
How did I get here? I've always loved video and image editing, but it was always on the back burner because I studied programming and IT systems management. The part I liked most about the course was multimedia, especially image and video editing. In 2014, a friend bought a drone, which was love at first sight. I immediately wanted to get one, but it had to be postponed again for financial reasons. Finally, in 2022, I bought my first drone, and to summarize, I combined the adrenaline of flying an FPV drone with filming the sports I love and practice. This is something that gives me immense pleasure every moment, as does sharing my love for nature through my work.
And that’s how I got to where I am now, entirely dedicated to this at 100%.
