Born and raised in Nazaré, Portugal, Luís de Sá—known to many as Ben—has been a passionate bodyboarder since 9. His journey in the sport has been marked by multiple national titles, a testament to his dedication and skill. Beyond competing, Luís is deeply committed to his local community. He serves as part of the administration of the Clube de Desportos Alternativos da Nazaré (CDAN), actively supporting the next generation of talent and fostering the vibrant surf culture of Nazaré.  


 

In addition to his bodyboarding accomplishments, Luís served seven years in the "Fuzileiros" of the Portuguese Navy, a special military force. This experience instilled in him qualities such as discipline, resilience, and leadership, which continue to shape his work today as a professional audiovisual producer. Luís is not only a bodyboarder but also a storyteller. As the founder of Above Creators, he has carved a unique space in the world of surf cinematography and videography. His daring and creative approach has earned him recognition for capturing Nazaré’s legendary giant waves from an insider's perspective, often in the heart of the action. His expertise has led to collaborations with world-renowned brands like HP, Monster Energy, Red Bull, and WSL, as well as partnerships on groundbreaking documentaries such as "100 Foot Wave" and projects with Vox. His work is regularly featured on platforms like Surfline, Surfer, and Stab, making him a trusted name in the global surf media landscape. Luís’ bold vision and technical skill have positioned him as one of the leading filmmakers in the big wave surf community. Whether behind the lens or out in the water, his passion for storytelling and pushing limits is unmistakable. As a proud member of Nazaré’s local surf scene, Luís continues to inspire through his work, capturing the raw power of the ocean and the spirit of those who dare to ride it.
